In this vital role you will lead all aspects of financial operations for the site while ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and Amgens accounting policies and procedures. The scope of responsibility shall include Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), accounting and financial close activities, aligning with local tax requirements, managing internal controls and driving financial performance and efficiency. The individual will manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support business objectives. This role is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and the successful candidate shall contribute to both long-term and short-term operational and strategic plans of the site. This role reports to the global finance functional lead.
Lead the day-to-day financial operations of the Amgen India site
Serve as member of Site Leadership Team, making contributions on an operational and strategic level
Strategically partner with Site Head as well as peers on Senior Leadership team through providing timely financial analysis and insights
Prepare business cases to support funding needs for critical initiatives at site
Lead local process for developing budgets, forecasts and long-range (5-year) plans; submit required results to consolidation teams in a timely manner
Own the close process for sites to include ensuring that expenses as of the end of each quarter are complete and accurate
Report results and variance explanations to Site Leadership Team as well as the Finance Consolidation team
Be a champion and change agent supporting Efficiency initiatives on-site
Ensure career development, skills advancement and coaching of team members
Understand local statutory requirements and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory financial standards, including:
Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)
Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives
Manage internal controls and risk management processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Centers of Excellence globally to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Savings / value realization tracking of operational efficiency initiatives
Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of commitment and continuous improvement.
What we expect of you
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 3 years of Finance experience OR
Masters degree and 10 to 14 years of Finance experience OR
Bachelors degree and 14 to 16 years of Finance OR
Diploma and 18 to 20 years of Finance experience
Extensive knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
Proficiency in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
Resourceful leader who can connect the dots across matrixed organization
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience with global finance operations.
Knowledge of advanced financial modeling techniques.
Proficiency in data analytics and business intelligence tools.
Business performance management
Finance transformation experience involving recent technology advancements
Prior multinational capability center experience
Experience with Oracles Hyperion/EPM, SAP, Anaplan, Tableau/PowerBI
Certified public accountant or past experience working in accounting
Managerial and financial experience in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology manufacturing environment
Experience supporting senior leaders of an organization as an FP&A business partner or in some other advisory capacity
Managerial experience to include hiring and staff performance management
Experience in preparing executive communication to include written and oral presentations
