Job Details

The General Manager/Deputy General Manager - Operations will be a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the hospital. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality patient care, enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall strategic growth and financial health of the institution. The GM/DGM  - Operations will lead and manage various departments, foster a culture of excellence and patient-centricity, and implement best practices to ensure smooth and effective hospital functioning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Excellence & Efficiency: * Oversee and manage all non-medical operational departments including, but not limited to, patient registration, billing, front office, patient relations, housekeeping, dietary services, security, maintenance, and facility management. * Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow and service delivery. * Identify areas for operational improvement, cost reduction, and process optimization without compromising quality of care. * Implement lean methodologies and best practices to enhance productivity and reduce turnaround times. * Ensure optimal utilization of hospital resources, including beds, equipment, and staff.

2. Patient Experience & Satisfaction: * Champion a patient-centric culture across all operational touchpoints. * Monitor and analyze patient feedback (surveys, complaints, suggestions) and implement corrective actions and service improvements. * Ensure a welcoming, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. * Oversee patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes to ensure efficiency and empathy.

3. Staff Management & Development: * Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team. * Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and retention of operational staff. * Foster a collaborative and positive work environment. * Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

4. Financial Management & Budgeting: * Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage operational budgets effectively. * Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost control and revenue enhancement. * Ensure timely and accurate billing and collection processes. * Contribute to the hospital's financial sustainability through efficient resource management.

5. Compliance & Quality Assurance: * Ensure strict adherence to all national and local healthcare regulations, including NABH, JCI (if applicable), pollution control board norms, and other relevant statutory requirements (e.g., Factories Act, EPF, ESI). * Implement and monitor quality assurance programs within operational departments. * Participate in internal and external audits and ensure prompt rectification of any identified non-conformities. * Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and infection control within the hospital premises.

6. Facility & Infrastructure Management: * Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the hospital infrastructure, including buildings, equipment, and utilities. * Plan and execute facility upgrades, renovations, and expansions as needed. * Ensure proper functioning of IT systems relevant to operations (e.g., Hospital Information System - HIS, billing software). * Manage vendor relationships for operational services (e.g., catering, laundry, waste management, security).

7. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: * Work closely with medical, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination. * Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on operational matters. * Represent the hospital in relevant meetings, committees, and community engagements.
